Why Moisture Matters
For standard epoxy or PU coatings, the moisture level in concrete must be ≤ 4% before application. Typically, it takes around 28 days for concrete to naturally dry to this level, depending on air pressure and climatic conditions. In some cases, even after 90 days, moisture levels remain high due to elevated groundwater tables beneath the concrete. Applying epoxy or PU coatings on surfaces with > 4% moisture often leads to blistering or bubbles caused by osmosis—the movement of water from high to low concentration through a semi-permeable barrier.

Jemkon’s epoxy cementitious flooring is a blend of resin, hardener, and specially formulated cement-based aggregates. These are mixed on-site using variable speed stirrers and applied within strict timeframes to ensure quality. The system is applied at thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 100mm, based on client requirements. Since it functions as a temporary moisture barrier screed, applying a topcoat of epoxy or polyurethane is recommended to enhance aesthetics and add functional properties.
